Nahomy Castillo Abril
Acoustical Consultant
Nahomy Castillo Abril graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture from the National University of Engineering (UNI) in Lima, Peru, in 2020. Following graduation, she gained over four years of experience in architectural drafting, design development, and project coordination for residential and commercial projects.
Nahomy relocated to Vancouver, BC, to pursue a Master of Applied Science in Building Science at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT), specializing in acoustics, and graduated in 2026. Her research focused on room acoustics and sound field characterization in reverberant environments. Through laboratory measurements and numerical analysis, she investigated sound field behaviour and acoustic performance in enclosed spaces.
Following completion of her graduate studies, Nahomy joined BKL Consultants. Her experience includes environmental noise modelling, building acoustics assessments, mechanical noise analyses, and preparation of technical reports for residential, commercial, mixed-use, and institutional developments.
Nahomy is experienced in the use of architectural and acoustical software including Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, CadnaA, Strutt, INSUL, and Samurai. She is also familiar with acoustical measurement and analysis using 01dB Fusion, 01dB DUO, and Brüel & Kjær instrumentation.
